The Overlord by Willie Burns

New York-based William Burnett, better known as Willie Burns, has been in the game for quite a few years. However, he’s become more notable under his current guise, releasing stellar EPs for the Créme Organization and the L.I.E.S. imprint throughout the course of 2011. Despite being on the low for most of this year, he’ll be joining forces with Will Bankhead and the Trilogy Tapes crew for his next EP, The Overlord. The namesake track here is quite a curve-ball in comparison to most of his material, with Burnett sparring atonal chord stabs, sinister vocals and persistent low-end throughout the course of 5.5 minutes. It’s quite a refreshing, albeit abrasive, change from most of the tracks we’ve written about this year, and duly will be getting a heavy rinsing in the GP office.
